Who we are

We are a “virtual” organisation and we keep our staffing to a minimum in order to ensure that as much of our funding as possible is used directly for the benefit of children and young people.

At the moment, everything is done on a voluntary basis.  Our board members are:

Sally Bromley (Chair)

Sally is the Principal of Collyer’s Sixth Form College in Horsham.  She took a PGCE at Exeter University in English and Drama and has always had a special interest in arts education.

Peter Griffiths

Peter is a West Sussex County Councillor and has previously held the position of Cabinet Member for Education and Schools.  West Sussex County Council supported the development of the SAA and Peter is the Council representative on our board.

Andrew Bernardi

Andrew is one of the UK’S most accomplished violinists and a member of the professorial staff at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.  His Bernardi Music Group  has toured internationally to critical acclaim. He runs a highly successful annual Shipley Arts Festival across Sussex which includes performances from his Gifted and Talented String Academy.

Karin Moorhouse

Karin Moorhouse is an artist and designer who lives in Arundel where she is also a Town Councillor.

Debbie Kennard

Debbie Kennard is a West Sussex County Councillor and she is a Deputy to the Cabinet Member for Children – Start of Life.  She has served as a district councillor at Adur since 2003. She has lived and worked in Shoreham for 21 years. She is also a director and chairperson of a dynamic youth group, Blueprint 22.

We also have a Director of Operations, David Sword.  David has had a long career in education and having retired from his post as Director of Learning at West Sussex County Council in 2013 he now runs his own education consultancy business.

We are always looking to extend our range of skills and experience and if you would like to make a contribution to SAA, please do contact us.
